The last two Saturdays have been wonderful and inspirational.
Midland Festival Chorus (MFC) performs its Annual Concert every October in Worcester Cathedral over two Rehearsal Saturdays and with an early Preparation Day in May.
We have made the city of Worcester our home for the past eight years and are delighted to be part of the life of the musical community there. Each year nearly 250 singers come together in October for our concert performance in the awe-inspiring Cathedral.
Most will have taken part in the earlier May Preparation Day, giving singers an opportunity to get to know the works. Home learning then takes place over the next five months with the help of specially prepared learning materials and recordings, before meeting again in October.
Singers come from all over the UK - and beyond - and MFC has made a strong commitment to encouraging the participation of young people through our exciting and expanding Young Singers Scheme. We work actively with schools in the county to promote and encourage the opportunities MFC offers young people.
At the heart of our activities is the belief that MFC should be accessible to as many singers as possible. This, combined with an unwavering aspiration for high expectations and standards, makes MFC a unique part of the musical life of the UK. Our ethos relies heavily on the commitment, preparation and enthusiasm of all those involved - a formula which has worked for 37 years.
MFC is a Registered Charity (Registered Charity number 517532). The management is in the hands of a small executive committee, supported by volunteers with particular expertise. MFC accesses professional PR, marketing and design input from local businesses.
Our work is partially self-funded through singers' booking and Membership fees, with additional funding support being sought from charitable trusts and foundations.
We work in partnership with other local organisations and are grateful for the support and co-operation of: Worcester Cathedral, Worcester Cathedral Guild of Bellringers, St. Andrew's Methodist Church, 'Worcester Live', 'Visit Worcester', and a number of the city's and county's secondary schools.
